Head office construction project
In May 2024, the construction of the new head office began in Vierumäki. The project is completed before the end of 2025. Demarcation of the construction site area. Start of earthworks.
The new wooden two-storey head office of 3,173 m2 and 15,700 m3 was completed in October 2025.
Versowood’s new head office was designed by Planetary Architecture, an expert in sustainable, environmentally friendly architecture. The new head office is a wooden pavilion in the forest, dominated by a wooden-pillar-beam frame that presents itself as an abstraction of the forest, both inside and outside the building.
The load-bearing frame structure of the building, including the intermediate floor and roof, is made of Versowood glulam, and Versowood Kuningaspaneeli was used as the facade cladding. The systemic and flexibly customisable office building is sprinkler-free and has received Leed Platinum certification.
The head office also serves as a pilot site for new types of glulam-structured joints and a customisable wooden office concept. Nearly a thousand cubic metres of glulam have been used for the frame structures, where the glulam serves as a long-term carbon store throughout the building’s life cycle. The glulam beams were machined using the glulam factory’s CNC machine, which speeds up installation work on site.
Design: Planetary Architecture, Architect Pekka Pakkanen, Developer: Varte Lahti Oy, Interior Design Studio Joanna Laajisto, Interior Designer Joanna Laajisto.

Our office facility experience survey was carried out in cooperation with Rune&Berg Design in March 2021. The survey was carried out to support the design and decision-making regarding the new head office. Versowood’s employees were surveyed for different layers relevant to, for example, smooth flow of work, innovation, learning, attractiveness, commitment, motivation and well-being at work.
The carbon footprint of Versowood’s new head office has been calculated, and it is approximately 15 kgCO2e/m2/a. The figure is clearly below the future limit values for the carbon footprint of an office building in accordance with the Building Act.
The carbon footprint of the head office will be low throughout its life cycle, as its main structures are made of wood, which has a low carbon footprint. In addition, the building has good energy efficiency and solar panels are used to support the electricity production. Together, these reduce the need for purchased energy, which directly reduces emissions throughout the building’s life cycle. Furthermore, due to the large amount of wood, the carbon handprint of the building is considerably high, approximately 10 kgCO2e/m2/a. Carbon handprint refers to positive environmental impacts.
The carbon footprint calculation was carried out by Sweco, using the One Click LCA software. You can read more in this report.
