Sustainability programme 2030

Versowood’s sustainability programme 2030 includes our most important sustainability themes and goals until 2030.

Policies and principles

In addition to the applicable legislation, sustainability at Versowood is guided by Versowood’s values, environmental policy and Code of Conduct.

Versowood’s environmental policy outlines the company’s environmental principles and objectives. It represents the management’s commitment to continuous improvement in relation to the environment and serves as a guideline for the entire organisation.

Versowood’s Code of Conduct defines the common principles and ground rules that we follow in our operations. It outlines the common operating principles of our organisation and the boundaries between acceptable and inappropriate behaviour. Clear ground rules further operations in accordance with our values and make it easier to implement them in our daily work.

Certificates and commitments

Versowood uses internationally recognised standards in its operations, and systems certified according to such standards support Versowood’s sustainability work and the achievement of its goals:

·         PEFC and FSC® Chain of Custody certifications ensure the control and legality of our wood sourcing. The PEFC CoC certification covers the most of our products, while FSC Co C certification applies to sawn timber.  The scopes of the certifications are described in more detail in the certificates.

·         The ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system ensures that environmental aspects are taken into account in all business operations. Versowood’s ISO 14001 certification currently covers operations in seven locations, and we are expanding its coverage year by year.  The certification scope described in more detail in the certificate.

·         The ISO 9001:2015 quality management system ensures process management, continuous improvement of operations and the development of customer satisfaction. The ISO 9001 certified management system covers pole production, sales and marketing.

Versowood is also a party to the Energy Efficiency Agreement 2026–2035. According to the Agreement, we are committed to improving the energy efficiency of our operations by 10 per cent from the 2025 level by the end of 2035.

Reporting

Versowood publishes a sustainability report for each fiscal year. After the fiscal year 07/2024–06/2025, we published Versowood’s first VSME sustainability report, which was prepared in accordance with the EU’s VSME standard (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-Sized Undertakings).

Versowood complies with the EU Whistleblower Directive (EU (2019/1937)) and the Finnish Whistleblower Protection Act (1171/2022) in maintaining its reporting channel and processing reports.

Through the whistleblowing channel, we can monitor our activities and get opportunities to address misconduct and develop our operations. All reports are handled with confidentiality.
